Abstract

As the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, has explained, genocide continues to be a calamity and a threat in the 21st century, and the humanitarian crisis of the Rohingya is a clear proof of this. The Rohingya people and the humanitarian crisis in which they are involved caught the attention of the main international media in August 2017. Although the situation precedes this date, it was then when the levels of violence escalated so dramatically that the international community could no longer look the other way. Moreover, the evidence that proofs that this is a genocide can no longer be ignored. However, during this period of analysis, the actions of the international community via the United Nations have been categorically insufficient; leaving the Rohingya in extremely vulnerable conditions.
