In Argentina, in recent years, local governments have become receivers of demands related to public security despite not having the competencies to directly approach this problem. In this article we try to address this phenomenon paying attention to the case of the Province of Santa Fe through the approach of the “Mesa de Coordinación Institucional en Seguridad Local” program promoted by the Ministry of Security, giving an account of how this political device works in the different regions of the province and the considerations that the officials involved make in this regard. Also, we will give an account of the main objectives of the program and its possible horizons, bearing in mind the institutional reform in security that is being carried out in Santa Fe.
