The resignation of Benedict XVI and the election of Francis are marked by the crisis. The governance crisis of the Vatican monarchy produced the abdication of the german and the subsequent arrival of the argentine. In this context, Pope Francis must restore the governance of the Vatican and, fundamentally, reverse the crisis of papal legitimacy.
Along with the decline of the catholic Church, the West is going through a deep crisis of its democratic institutions. This article proposes to approach the pontificate of Francis in the framework of the crisis in the West. With this, an attempt will be made to decipher possible resonances in the ecclesiology of Francis for the crisis of western democracies.
