Abstract

The aim of this study is to reflect about contexts and the physical conditions in urban areas in which violence is involved in Acapulco city. Through photography seeks to answers questions about the contexts which the violence is developing in urban areas in Acapulco, and the effect of state intervention for reducing crime. This study allows enhance analysis opportunities of urban violence from a qualitative approach. The analysis is based on photographs taken at marches at five PRONAPRED polygons, and focuses on the contexts and protection and risk factors (citizen security). The broken windows theory is used to approaching to relations between the concepts of urban space, disorder and violence.
