Abstract

In this paper we attempt to make an introductory study of the academic career of Carlos Escudé, exponent of the field of international relations in Argentina and creator of the theory known as peripheral realism.
Escudé's theory has had great repercussion in Latin America and in the U.S.A. and has even been studied in China. For this purpose, we also carry out a small analysis of the disciplinary studies within the field of political science and international relations, emphasizing the methodological strategies on biographies and intellectual trajectories, trying to recover some contributions from sociology, anthropology and art history.
